The OPP says there have been a significant number of deaths on highways so far this year
The OPP is reminding drivers to be cautious this long weekend and when school is back in session next week.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says so far this year, there have been 239 fatalities on OPP patrolled roads.
He adds there have also been a shocking number of charges so far this year.
"3,884 stunt driving charges have been laid this year and 7,152 impaired driving charges. These numbers are far too large, and people are dying because of the leading causes of death and injury - impaired driving, aggressive driving, distracted driving and people not wearing their seatbelts."
The OPP will be on patrol this long weekend.
