Event will be held tonight outside of the office of MP Chris Bittle
A rally will be held in St. Catharines tonight to show support for Palestine.
The gathering will take place outside the office of MP Chris Bittle, starting at 6:00 p.m.
It's being held by the Niagara Movement for Justice in Palestine Israel.
The group says it's calling for an end to the occupation of Palestine, which it claims is the root cause of the violence.
Ineke Medcalf, the co-founder of NMJPI, is calling on "peace makers of every walk of life to stand for justice and take action to end the occupation and blockade of Gaza. Having been seven times in the West Bank, I have seen first-hand the brutality of the occupation. This is not Jews against Muslims or Israelis against Palestinians. I have seen many Israelis stand alongside Palestinians opposing the apartheid policies of the Israeli government."
Since the war started over two weeks ago, over 1,400 Israelis have been killed, most of which were civilians who died in the initial rampage by Hamas.
The Gaza Health Ministry, which is run by Hamas, says over 6500 Palestinians have died, but that number has not been verified.
