Flooding possible from Haldimand County to Fort Erie
A flood watch has been issued for parts of Niagara.
The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority says due to the snowfall from the blizzard, there could be flooding from Haldimand County to Fort Erie on Friday and Saturday.
The area saw about 15 to 30 cm of snow, while other communities got about 5 to 10 cm.
The forecast is calling for about 15 to 25 mm of rain on Friday into Saturday.
The NPCA says the rainfall and the snow melt could cause flooding, but the extent depends on how much rain is received.
There could also be localized flooding as many roadside ditches have debris, ice and snow.
Residents are advised to stay away from creeks and rivers at this time.
The NPCA also says water levels in parts of Wainfleet, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Port Colborne and St. Catharines are also elevated.
