Negotiators spend four hours convincing suspect to surrender
Officers were called to a complex in the area of the North Service Road and Winston Road on Monday morning after reports of a man in the lobby carrying a handgun.
Before police arrived the suspect went into one of the units.
Police negotiators were called in to help defuse the situation and after four hours, the suspect surrendered peacefully.
Twenty-nine year old David McDonnell of Grimsby is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Police seized a replica black and silver pistol during a search of the apartment.
