Province's Special Investigation Unit says it happened in detention centre
Niagara police have been cleared of doing anything wrong after a woman drank a toxic cleaning solution while in custody.
Ontario's Special Investigations Unit says on Valentine's Day the 32-year old slipped her arm under the cell door, and took a bottle from a nearby cleaning cart and drank it.
She was taken to hospital.
The SIU has concluded no police officer did any criminal act.
The SIU investigates whenever a police officer is involved in the death, injury, sexual assault of someone, or use of a gun.
