Police Go After Shoplifters in Niagara

They say 20 were arrested over the last month, two of them were from Alberta

20 people have been arrested for shoplifting in Niagara over the last month.

Niagara Regional police have been working with stores to fight this problem through an initiative called 3P, or Past Point of Purchase.

As the arrests were made, 11 charges were handed out, and over $2,700 worth of stolen goods returned.

Police add last Thursday six people were arrested, two had over $1,400 in stolen goods on them, and were wanted by other police services.

On Sunday, 8-people were arrested, two were from Alberta, linked to similar thefts of toys across multiple jurisdictions, those toys intended for resale and not personal use.
