St. Catharines will be one of 20 Canadian cities hosting Recovery Day events tomorrow.

The event will take place at Market Square from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

There will be live entertainment, speakers and information about addiction recovery services.

There will also be a free meal at 5:00 p.m. and a sober dance party from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

"Addiction has become a pandemic situation is our city and country. Niagara is taking to the streets joining countless Canadians in a nationwide call to action in unison saying recovery is possible, attainable and something to celebrate. The event was created to provide venues for people to gather and publicly step out of the shadows to share their stories, their enthusiasm and HOPE. More and More Canadians are talking about a sober life and saying in unison that recovery saves lives and restores families," says Lisa Simone, Recovery Day Coordinator.

The event is being organized by Nomina Integrated Health.

"There are close to 5 million people in recovery in Canada-this is a constituency of consequence. When you add their friends, families, and allies, you are talking about 80-90% of the population being affected. For too long people in Recovery have been silent. Times are changing and we have found our voice," adds Lisa Klco, Nomina Integrated Health Director of Clinics and Recovery Day speaker.
