Niagara Regional police have a better idea of how they are preceived in the community.
Over 2,300 people who regularly spend time in Niagara responded to a survey, also found online, about community safety, police visibility, and experience with police.
69% feel very safe at home, but, when considering the region as a whole, 64% believe community safety has become worse during the last year.
When interacting with police, roughly 75% felt being treated professionally, 66% felt they were listened to, and police response times were in the 50% range.
Safety in certain public areas identified a needing continued attention.
The NRPS adds not every interaction meets the needs of those involved.
