Tripp had been Acting CAO since December 2018.
Niagara Regional Council has appointed Ron Tripp to the role of permanent CAO.
The CAO is the only direct Council employee, and oversees over 3,000 Regional staff.
Tripp was Acting CAO for the Region beginning in December 2018, and over the last ten months recruitment firm Legacy Partners completed a process to select a permanent CAO with the assistance of Regional Council's CAO Recruitment Committee.
Officials say the process followed the recommendations the Provincial Ombudsman made in his 2019 Inside Job Report.
During his time as Acting CAO, Tripp provided leadership on issues such as the Region's response to the pandemic and involvement in the upcoming Canada Summer Games.
Tripp has over 20 years of municipal experience, and has held senior roles with the City of St. Catharines and the Town of Fort Erie.
