Jeanneret was the longest serving play by play announcer in NHL history
The voice of the Buffalo Sabres has died.
Rick Jeanneret has passed away at the age of 81.
The team released a statement from his family saying he passed away after a two year battle with multi-organ failure.
Jeanneret, who was from St. Catharines, spent 51 years with the team, and served longer than any play by play announcer in NHL history.
He started working for the team in 1971 and retired last year.
In 2012 he was inducted into the National Hockey League Hall of Fame.
The Buffalo Sabres mourn the life of our legendary broadcaster and a member of our family, Rick Jeanneret, who passed away today.
