Festival management giving itself a pat on the back for ending the year with a surplus
At its first-ever virtual Annual General Meeting, the Shaw board reporting gross revenues of just over $24 million and an operating surplus of $185,000.
The Niagara-on-the-Lake theatre company says it was all thanks to significant donor investments, the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy and insurance that covered pandemic related losses.
The Festival also used the downtime to create a new Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce, to deeply examine issues affecting Black, Indigenous, people of colour and marginalized members of the company.
The task force will release its findings shortly.
