Niagara Health says it's been 1 year since the ground breaking ceremony
Today is the one year anniversary since close to 300 people, including Premier Doug Ford, took part in a ground breaking ceremony of the new South Niagara hospital.
Niagara Health tells us the foundation and basement level is done, and elevator shafts and stairwells are starting to take shape, which includes waterlines, stormwater and sanitary sewers.
EllisDon Infrastructure began construction of the ground level in May, and over the next two years, you can see the building grow to its 12 floor peak.
Niagara Health adds hundreds of people have spent over 4,500 hours on the hospital's design, which should be done in the fall.
That was done using mock rooms, built to scale with real furniture, giving designers a chance to make important decisions about the final build.
