A St. Catharines native is receiving praise for his documentary.
Edward Burtynsky's "Anthropocene: The Human Epoch" has made Variety's list of top documentaries of 2019.
He was born and raised in St. Catharines and even received the key to the city.
Burtynsky is famous for his large format photographs of industrial landscapes.
Working alongside co-directors Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas de Pencier the three traveled the globe showcasing striking changes humans have made on the planet.
In a tweet St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik congratulated Burtynsky for making the list saying "His creativity and passion for his craft has influenced a generation of photographers, filmmakers and other artists".
