Council voted for a program lasting beyond 2030
City of St. Catharines taking steps to deal with drivers who still don't understand the importance of slowing down in school zones.
Councillor Jackie Lindal's School Zone Traffic Calming program passed last night, that includes long term strategy beyond 2030.
She still hears concerns, including from school principals. "I understand that certain schools, I've got 2 on a regional road, and 2 on traffic circles... they may not qualify for that kind of traffic calming, but I'm hoping the region does what it did in front of St. Anne's in Port Dalhousie, and do that type of traffic calming, which was fantastic."
Speed humps, all-way stops, and pedestrian crossovers to cost $2.5-million for the next 25-years.
