St. Catharines MPP Jennie Stevens says it has been a rough year everyone especially our veterans and service members.
She says the Royal Canadian Legion has been experiencing a decline in donations this year and several branches have been unable to pay their bills.
She says Legion's provide essential support services for veterans and we need to do everything we can to save them.
Stevens is encouraging everyone to donate to the cause online or purchase a poppy from a contactless donation box.
In her official Remembrance Day statement, she also thanks the veterans organizations who campaigned to make sure that every veteran has access to the Soldiers' Aid Commission.
She also thanked the Canadian Armed Forces members who stepped up to help those in our hardest hit long-term care homes during the pandemic.
"Once again, when we faced a crisis it was our military personnel who stepped up to protect our seniors in long-term care homes and revealed the shocking conditions they discovered. They answered the call to serve and put their own health on the line. They performed their duty with the kind of professionalism and sense of duty that should make us all so proud."
Stevens is the NDP's critic for Veterans, Legions and Military Affairs.
