Wainfleet residents can a slight tax increase this year.
Last night, council passed a 3.5 percent tax increase as part of the 2021 budget.
The blended rate include Niagara Region and School Board tax levies.
For the average household, the increase will amount to about $0.40 a day.
The budget also includes a 1.5 percent operating budget increase, a 1.98 percent capital levy increase and a 2.92 percent infrastructure levy increase.
Wainfleet Mayor Kevin Gibson says the amount will take into account the needs of the Township without adding too much of a strain on residents.
"This is a balanced approach that takes into account the operational and capital needs of the Township, while being lean and building on the work we have been doing over the past couple of years."
