Transit operators are collaborating and coordinating actions to keep transit service going while also taking steps to protect the health and safety of riders and drivers.
Operators for Welland, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls and Niagara Region are working to follow public health guidelines around social distancing in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Some operators implemented changes previously to the schedules but as of March 23, all operators will be running significantly modified schedules.
Riders are encouraged to check with the transit service provider for more information on the specific changes.
Riders will also now board the bus through the rear door, to help protect transit drivers.
All operators are undertaking sanitization of the vehicles and applying an anti-microbial coating to the entire fleet.
Additional steps and changes may be necessary in the future.
