Welland Forge has closed its doors for good.
IMT Forge Group has decided to close the Welland plant after one its biggest customers decided to take its business overseas.
It says this customer accounted for 65 percent of the Welland Forge's business and this blow is too large to withstand in this difficult economy and during a global pandemic.
A report in the Welland Tribune says 44 unionized and 12 salaried employees will have to find work elsewhere.
IMT Forge Group also owns the Port Colborne Forge.
