Construction of the new sites expected to be complete next spring.
Welland Mayor Frank Campion took a tour of the two new Welland fire station sites earlier today.
He was joined by Councillors Bryan Green, Claudette Richard, Adam Moote, Jim Larouche, Bonnie Fokkens and John Chiocchio.
Other attendees included Fire Chief Adam Eckhart and staff from the project management firm Mettko.
Campion says the construction of the new stations is great news for the City.
"This is an exciting time for the City of Welland as it makes a significant investment in community safety. Welland has an incredible and highly respected Fire and Emergency Services Department. This is an integral step in ensuring that Welland Fire and Emergency Services remains a leader in fire service."
The firehalls will be located at 400 East Main Street and 636 King Street.
Construction is expected to be complete by spring 2022.
