Teenager accused of stealing license plates from parked vehicles
A 16 year old male from Welland has been arrested, after American license plates were stolen from a number of parked vehicles.
Around 11:00 p.m. on August 16th, detectives were in a hotel parking lot on Fallsview Blvd near Robinson Street in Niagara Falls.
Police say a youth was spotted getting out of a car, and removing an American license plate from a vehicle that was parked.
The teen was quickly arrested.
Officers found several American license plates in his possession during the arrest, and further investigation has turned up 75 American and Canadian license plates.
Police add the suspect was also responsible for a gas drive off in Thorold on August 2nd, 2023.
The suspect has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (28 Counts)
- Attempt to Commit an Indictable Offence
- Theft Under $5000 (gasoline)
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the teenager cannot be identified.
