Police say she was hurt after an explosion outside a school in Grimsby
An explosion outside Central French Immersion School in Grimsby has left a staff member with minor injuries.
Police were called around 1:30 this afternoon to the scene on Boulton Avenue, to find a woman, a staff member of the school, opened a garbage bin when there was an explosion.
Damage was limited to the bin area, she was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The school was put in a Lock and Learn status, while nearby residents were asked to stay indoors.
Police are asking everyone to stay away while they sort out what happened, with road closures in place.
- Main St. W. is closed between St. Andrews Ave. and Kerman Ave.
- St. Andrews Ave. is closed between Bolton Ave. and Main St. W.
- Bolton Ave. and Kidd Ave. are both closed.
