Suspect with rape warrant arrested at Peace Bridge
A wrong turn at the Peace Bridge has led to a rape arrest.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection says a 45 year old man with an active warrant in Philadelphia was arrested yesterday.
45 year old Jose Cruz Lopez accidentally turned onto the Peace Bridge between Buffalo and Fort Erie, and didn't have proper identification.
He was sent to a secondary inspection area where officers made the discovery.
"Our CBP officers continue to work hard in identifying and intercepting wanted criminals," said Buffalo Port Director Gaetano Cordone. "Our strong relationships with our local law enforcement partners are pivotal in ensuring fugitives are brought to justice."
Officials say he was turned over to the Buffalo Police Department.
