MPP says 10 doors are closing, close to 500 jobs eliminated
10 offices of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, known as WSIB, will be closing, including the one in St. Catharines.
St. Catharines NDP MPP Jennie Stevens releasing the news yesterday, adding the organization is cutting almost 500 jobs.
She says this means the loss of local jobs, and, importantly, the loss of experienced people who handle Ontario's workers' compensation system.
She questions Premier Doug Ford's recent announcement of 119,000 more jobs in Ontario, to these job losses.
She adds this means longer claims processing time, and delays for people needing the money to live.
