An eight-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries after a backyard fire in Niagara Falls.
Emergency services were called to a home in the Cherrywood Road and Elmwood Ave area Monday afternoon.
Police say the girl was taken to a local hospital before she was transferred to an out-of-region hospital for further treatment.
She remains in critical condition at this time.
The fire is being investigated by Niagara Regional Police and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office.
