Niagara Falls Considering Pride Crosswalk

August 14, 2019

Niagara Falls City Council discussed installing a rainbow crosswalk at the corner of Queen Street and Erie Avenue, in a show of support for the LGBTQ community.

Some concerns arose including the quality of paint, costs and visibility of pedestrians.

Most paints would chip and wear away quickly but a high quality one could cost around $32,000 to install.

The main concern however, is that the sidewalk is scheduled to be torn up and redone in about year.

After a brief conversation, council unanimously voted that it be referred to staff for a report back.
