158 New COVID-19 Cases, One More Death in Niagara

Niagara's COVID-19 death toll now at 493.

Another person has died of COVID-19 in Niagara. 

Public Health reporting one death and 158 new COVID-19 cases. 

The area's death toll now sits at 493. 

There are 95 Niagara Health patients with the virus, 70 of which are being treated primarily for COVID-19. 

There are 21 ICU patients with the virus, eight of which are unvaccinated. 

Throughout Niagara, there are 2,547 active cases, including 798 in St. Catharines, 508 in Niagara Falls and 273 in Welland. 

There are also 28 active outbreaks, including one that was declared yesterday at Shalom Manor in Grimsby. 

Over 991,000 vaccinations have been administered, and about 86.9 percent of eligible Niagara residents have their first dose. 

Meanwhile, around 82.4percent of local residents are fully immunized.
