Thirty year old Casey Oakes went missing in March
Police in Akwesasne have identified a body pulled from the St. Lawrence River earlier this month.
The man has been identified as 30 year old Casey Oakes, who went missing in March.
He was connected to the investigation into the deaths of eight migrants.
In March, the bodies of eight people from two families were pulled from the river, about 130 kilometres southwest of Montreal.
Oakes' boat had been found near the bodies.
Authorities say the families were trying to enter the U.S. illegally via Akwesasne Mohawk Territory, which includes parts of Quebec, Ontario, and New York State.
One of the families was Romanian, and the other was from India.
