Over a dozen people cuffed near Hamilton and Ottawa campuses
A number of arrests have been made in Hamilton and Ottawa following unsanctioned homecoming street parties around university campuses.
Police in both cities say more than a dozen people were cuffed resulting from the parties after football games on the weekend.
Hamilton police say nine people were arrested and 16 bylaw charges were issued after they estimate up to 6,000 people gathered in neighbourhoods near McMaster University on Saturday.
The university, which stopped hosting events after 2019, thanked student volunteers for helping clean up trash that was left behind.
In Ottawa, police say seven people were arrested after crowds allegedly turned hostile near the University of Ottawa campus following the homecoming football game against rival Carleton University.
