Only resident season pass holders will be able to visit Bay Beach in Fort Erie.
CAO Tom Kuchyt says closing the beach to out-of-town visitors was a difficult decision but it’s the right one.
He says restrictions will be in place in order to follow the province’s new health and safety guidelines and visitors will be welcomed back once it's safe to do so.
A maximum of 2,000 people will be allowed entry to the beach at a time to ensure physical distancing.
Passes will be available at the Leisureplex and the Crystal Ridge arena.
The passes will be free this year, but you will have to provide proof of address.
The town will release the season pass pickup schedule and the Bay Beach operating hours later this week.
