Canada Revenue Agency says if you get text about depositing rebate, don't do it
It appears criminals will stop at nothing when it comes to finding new ways to scam people.
Canada Revenue Agency is warning of a scam concerning the $250 rebate cheques the federal government is proposing, that's not even law yet.
The agency has tweeted if you get a text message or email asking you to deposit the money, don't, it's a scam.
The government says the Working Canadians Rebate, if enacted by parliament, will be automatically deposited into the bank accounts of those eligible, as with any other government benefit.
The rebate is alongside the GST break over the holidays proposed by the federal Liberals.
