The farm has been placed under quarantine after the CFIA confirmed the H-5-N-1 virus.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has confirmed a case of bird flu at a poultry flock in southern Ontario
H-5-N-I is commonly known as bird flu and is a highly pathogenic avian influenza. It is highly contagious and can be devastating for chicken farmers when it enters a flock.
The farm in question is under quarantine and the CFIA has established movement control measures and recommending enhanced biosecurity for other farms within that area.
The CFIA did not disclose the exact location of the farm, but it is in the Wellington County area, just north of Kitchener.
