Regional Chair Jim Bradley says it can be daunting to live through history but we need to remember that there is always an endpoint.
He shared some shocking numbers related to the pandemic during his virtual state of the region address yesterday.
He says pandemic could result in almost $16 billion in lost revenues by the end of the year if conditions don’t improve.
Bradley says Niagara’s GDP could shrink as much as 40 percent.
He also noted that more than 35,000 jobs were lost over the last three months according to Statistics Canada.
He adds one in three Niagara businesses have reported that they are at risk of permanent closure due to the pandemic.
Bradley says our lives may never be the same as they were before, but we have also been given the opportunity to rebuild aspects of our economy and our community that may work better for everyone.
