$2.3-million to help 3 areas... lung disease, elder care, mental health
A major federal funding boost of $2.3-million for Brock University and its health researchers.
There are three groups receiving help, one that works on treating age-related lung disease, another working with elder care, and the 3rd focuses on mental health.
The school says help for lung disease is related to a new drug, that helps against cardiovascular disease, cancer, Type 2 diabetes, but there's hope it'll help with respiratory illness.
Another group receiving help is about hospital discharge planning, the goal to reduce re-admissions among medically complex older people.
And the 3rd group studies how the differences between men and women impacts mental health, and not just the daily stressors of life.
