A city spokesperson says that the Mayor of Buffalo will run for re-election.
If elected, this will be Byron Brown's fifth term in office.
Brown is serving as the city's 62nd mayor, and its first African-American mayor.
He first took office in 2006, and if he is re-elected, he will be the longest-serving mayor in Buffalo's history.
A formal announcement is expected to come on Thursday.
