Summer will not be the same in Port Colborne this year.
The Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
City Council decided to pull the plug during their meeting Monday night.
Mayor Bill Steele says the decision to cancel the event was made with the community’s health and safety in mind.
He says he was a difficult decision, but it’s the right thing to do.
The 42nd annual event was supposed to kick off in Port Colborne on July 31st and wrap up on August 3rd.
