This is for the fall municipal election
If you've ever considered running for political office, the time is coming.
Those interested in this fall's municipal and school board elections can file nomination forms from May 1st to August 21st, forms available through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs website, or at local city and town clerk offices.
There are a number of requirements, including a $200 filing fee for head of council, and $100 for all other offices.
Each nomination must be endorsed by 25 eligible voters in municipalities with more than 4,000 voters, this does not apply for school board trustees.
The Niagara region adds there is a candidate information meeting on Wednesday, at the Welland Community centre.
