A St. Catharines resident wants to be mayor because he believes the city can do better.
Anthony Adeoye runs a human resources company, and says he's prepared to do the work needed. "I've spent so many years working in an operations field, managing people as well, and solving problems, and making sure things get done."
His first priority is ensuring people have an affordable home. "We have some development going on in the city, digging in the ground, and if you look at the statistics, we have some 800 housing units going up somewhere, and only 200 are designated as affordable, and I find that ridiculous."
He also wants to go through the budget and cut wasteful spending, and ease the tax burden. "Put a cap on property taxes for the city portion, and look inward where we have so many things we need to cut. So many things that cost us money."
He says addiction, homelessness and the economy are all tied together. "I'm a business type, I believe in diversity, I believe in creating and enabling an environment where we bring in and attract investors in our city, so we can make small business grow."
He adds St. Catharines residents need to see where their taxes are going.
He's competing for mayor against Mat Siscoe, Ann-Marie Zammit, Henry Bosch, and Jimmy Jackson.
