The charges have been dropped, almost one year after the cop-on-cop shooting in Pelham.
The Special Investigations Unit charged NRP Detective Sergeant Shane Donovan with attempted murder, aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
But the charges were withdrawn in a St. Catharines courtroom today, because there was no reasonable prospect of conviction in the case.
The shooting had sent NRP Constable Nathan Parker to hospital with serious injuries on November 29, 2018. He has since recovered.
The OPP charged Parker with assaulting a police officer, assault with the intent to resist arrest and assault with a weapon back in May. This was a separate but parallel investigation into the same incident.
