Company says service outage is not the result of a cybersecurity incident
CN Railway is blaming yesterday's service outage on a software upgrade.
The company says the upgrade affected their ability to connect to the internet.
"At this time, our teams have determined that this was caused by an internal systems upgrade, which affected CN's ability to connect to the internet," CN spokesman Jonathan Abecassis notes.
It also stopped Metrolinx and GO Transit from connecting to CN servers.
GO Trains partially run on tracks owned by CN.
CN adds there is no evidence of a cybersecurity incident.
The issue caused delays for thousands of commuters during the evening rush hour.
