Malcolmson Eco-Park will be closed for about six hours on Wednesday, due to a controlled burn
The controlled burn that was scheduled at Malcolmson Eco-Park for today will now take place on Wednesday.
The City of St. Catharines and the Friends of Malcolmson Eco-Park are planning to have a controlled burn for four to six hours tomorrow, starting at 8:00 a.m..
The burn has been approved by St. Catharines Fire Services.
The park will be closed for about six hours, and access to the parking lot will be blocked.
Officials say the burn is taking place to reduce invasive species and add nutrients from the ash to the grasses.
Nearby schools and neighbourhoods are being asked to close windows, doors and chimney flutes.
As well, anyone sensitive to smoke should stay away from the area or stay indoors.
