Students, employees and visitors advised to be cautious if they encounter wildlife.
Niagara College is warning students, staff and nearby residents of an increase in coyote sightings.
The school says coyotes have been spotted both on the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus and in the nearby community.
If you do see one, you're asked not to approach them, their pups or their dens.
You're also advised to remain calm, back away, stand tall, wave your hands and make noise.
When walking around at night, you should be aware of your surroundings and consider carrying a flashlight and a whistle.
You can report a coyote sighting on campus by calling Campus Safety at 905-735-2211 ext. 6999.
If you see one off campus, you can call the municipality.
If you see a coyote that is growling, stalking or chasing someone, you should call 911 immediately.
