Driver facing impaired driving charges
A cyclist is in hospital after being hit by an SUV in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Police say around 7:19 p.m. last night, the cyclist was hit by a black Jeep near Lakeshore Road and Townline Road.
The victim, a 40 year old man, was taken to an out of region hospital with serious injuries.
The Jeep had been travelling on Townline Road, when it hit the cyclist, who was riding on Lakeshore Road.
The driver continued along Lakeshore Road, returned to the scene, then left on foot.
She returned again on foot while officers were investigating.
Police had reason to believe the driver had been drinking.
Fifty year old Amanda Boyle has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm.
She has been released on bail and her license was suspended.
