Driver Charged After Speeding near Playground

In a separate incident, police charged St. Catharines woman for having 3-times legal alcohol

Another weekend of police catching speeding and impaired drivers.

Niagara regional police say they clocked a 61-year old driver at 108km in a 60 zone, on Merritt Road at Eastman Gateway.

Police add multiple families with young children were in the new playground at Merritt Meadows park, at that intersection.

Provincial police charged a 28-year old St. Catharines woman with impaired driving, after a single vehicle crash on the Derry Road ramp to Highway 410.

Police say she was 3 times over the legal limit.

NRP set up RIDE checks Saturday night in Port Colborne and St. Catharines.

Of the 400 vehicles stopped, 25 were asked to give breath samples, with one driver's licence suspension for three days.
