Police say victim seriously hurt after hit in Fort Erie

A man in his 30s is in hospital with serious, life altering injuries after police say he was intentionally hit by an SUV in Fort Erie.

Officers were called just before 2, early Monday morning, to Dufferin Street near Central, to find the man with critical injuries.

Police found the victim and a 33-year old Fort Erie man were arguing inside a house, and that escalating argument led outside.

Police say the suspect then got into the SUV, ran the victim over and drove off.

A few hours later police arrested the suspect at his home in the Bowden Street area.

Moses Balabyekkubo has been charged with aggravated assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and failing to stop after accident causing bodily harm.  He was kept in custody after a bail hearing and has another court date on Thursday.

Police add he was also charged with six offences under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, and, police used a search warrant for his vehicle and house, and seized offence related material.
