Meeting tomorrow night
A campaign is in the works to Save Chippawa Town Hall.
On the Facebook page, Chippawa News, Views and Local Politics, organizors are inviting anyone who would like to help or join a committee to keep the town hall in community hands is invited to a meeting tomorrow evening at 6:15.
This comes after Niagara Falls city council asked staff to prepare a report weighing the pros and cons of keeping the historic building in city hands or declaring it surplus and selling it off.
As a designated heritage property, any private owner would have to maintain the exterior of the 179 year old building but could renovate the inside.
City staff say the building needs close to $150,000 in renovations.
