Today, at noon, is the start of the fundraising campaign, raising money for the memorial site
It officially starts today... the Neil Peart memorial fundraising campaign, on his birthday at Lakeside Park in Port Dalhousie.
Campaign chair David DeRocco says it's to raise money for the Neil Peart Pavillion, where's there's a beautiful statue depicting his life.
"From an aspiring, young, idealistic musician, to the well aged, professor who has spent his life inspiring people through his music and books, and artistry."
He says ways to contribute include an opportunity to have your own customized image or message engraved on the memorial.
He adds the goal is $1-million. "That pays for the artists in Newfoundland to cast the bronze statues that are part of the memorial, and to complete the design of the panels where all the fans' tributes will be."
Everyone is invited to the park at noon today, city council and other dignitaries are showing up.
