You won’t be able to buy fireworks in St. Catharines during the State of Emergency.
St. Catharines Fire Services is suspending permits for the sale and display of fireworks to reduce the chance of fire and discourage public gatherings during COVID-19.
Fire Chief Jeff McCormick is strongly recommending people do not set off fireworks to celebrate Victoria Day.
He says fireworks are a tradition for many for both Victoria Day and Canada Day, but this year, it’s important for everyone to do their part to stop the spread and limit unnecessary fire calls.
