Five names will be added to the David S. Howes Sports Wall of Fame in St. Catharines.
The latest round of inductees includes Wanita Dykstra-May, Tonya Verbeek, Ron "Swede" Burak, William "Bill" Schenck, and Ellard "Obie" O'Brein.
Dykstra-May holds Canadian Junior record for high jump (1.92 metres back in 1993.)
Verbeek was the first Canadian woman to win an Olympic medal for wrestling.
Burak won a gold medal for rowing at the 1975 Pan American Games in Mexico City.
Schenck is currently the President of the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta and co-chair of the successful bid for the 2024 World Rowing Championships.
O'Brein played professional hockey back from 1950 to 1962 with the Boston Olympics, Tulsa Oilers, Boston Bruins, Quebec Aces and Philadelphia Ramblers.
The 2019 induction ceremony will be taking place at the Meridian Centre tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. The event will be open to the public.
