Niagara Health tells us some patients in Intensive Care unit
Niagara Health says it is seeing an alarming rise in the number of flu cases, leaving many people in intensive care.
Dr. Karim Ali is urging people to take the flu season seriously, and get vaccinated to prevent severe illness.
He says this is the worst flu season the region has seen since before the COVID pandemic, and while public attention in recent years has been on COVID, the flu remains a threat.
The Niagara Region's Medical Officer of Health Dr. Azim Kasmani repeated the flu shot is an effective tool of prevention.
Dr. Ali adds hospitals are bracing for more cases in the weeks ahead.
