Premier Ford made comments to a Kenora radio station today, saying the province is close to striking a child-care deal with the federal government.
One day after Nunavut signed a $10-a-day childcare deal with the federal government, Premier Doug Ford says Ontario is close to an agreement as well.
While speaking to Q104 in Kenora today, Ford said he is positive that parents will be happy with the deal that is reached.
Ontario is the only province that hasn't secured a $10-a-day child care deal with the federal government.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Stephen Lecce notes that Ontario is pushing for more than the $10.2 billion offer from Ottawa to ensure that fees can be reduced for families in the province.
On Monday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau noted that the federal government has been working with Ontario on a deal for "many, many months", saying he thinks a deal can be made.
